As a school we are participating the 'Eat Smart Week' with the Lunch Bunch from Monday 29th September - Friday 3rd October. This themed week is designed to promote key healthy eating messages in a fun, engaging way, inspiring children to explore new foods and make positive choices at lunchtime with the help of the cheerful Lunch Bunch characters. A nutritious, balanced diet is vital at every stage of life, but especially for children and young people during periods of rapid growth and development. Good nutrition supports not only physical and emotional wellbeing, but also educational performance and long-term potential. However, current research highlights that many children are consuming too little fruit, vegetables, and fibre, while exceeding recommended intakes of saturated fat, salt, and sugar. This week in school we will be thinking about healthy eating and how it is good to try new or different foods. Please see the posters below for information on this great healthy eating initiative. There is also a copy of the Eat Smart Week activity booklet for you to look at with your child. Why not try out some of the ideas and recipes for yummy and different foods to eat this week!
