WAU - Toys Topic Experiments and Designs!

Our world around us topic is toys. For part of this topic we have been looking at the push and pull forces we use when playing with different toys. We carried out an experiment to see what would happen when we pushed a car down a ramp. We used wooden blocks and a road to set up the experiment. Each time we pushed the car down the ramp we measured how far it traveled. We made the ramp one block taller on each go. At the end of the experiment we found that the car travelled further the higher the ramp.

We also thought about and designed our own toys. We had to decide whether they would be push or pull toys and think about the material they would be made from. We had fun telling our friends at our tables all about our new toy designs!

We used wooden blocks to measure the height of different toys from our classroom. We talked about which toys were the tallest and which were the shortest. Some of us made really good predictions about the height of the toys before measuring them.
