Art - Tiger in a Tropical Storm

Year 2 children explored the artwork Tiger in a Tropical Storm by Henri Rousseau, where they carefully observed and discussed key art elements such as colour, line, shape and texture, for example noticing the bold green tones, repeated leaf shapes and strong lines used to create movement in the storm. Over two sessions, the children then created their own versions of the artwork, using similar ideas while adding their own creative choices. Through this process, they developed skills in observation, artistic vocabulary, painting and drawing techniques, colour mixing and layering, as well as building confidence, creativity and perseverance when working on a piece of art over time.
