Loose Parts Play Outdoors

Year 2 have been enjoying loose parts play outdoors, working collaboratively in small groups to design and build them own imaginative creations using a wide range of open ended materials. Through exploring, discussing ideas and experimenting with different ways to join and arrange resources, the children demonstrated creativity, resilience and problem solving skills. This hands on approach supported the development of communication and teamwork, as they listened to one another, shared roles and adapted their plans. Loose parts play also strengthen critical thinking, spatial awareness and fine and gross motor skills, while encouraging independence and confidence in bringing their ideas to life.
